The Goal of Military Family Service Centers

Just as we in the civilian life are faced with everyday problems such as child care, family members with special needs, relocating, financial difficulties, etc., so are the members of the military. In an effort to meet the these needs, the military developed Family Service Centers (FSC) to assist the single and family military members.

All branches of the military provide services to assist Commands in improving combat readiness, on the job performance and retention of qualified personnel by increasing the awareness of and access to reliable and useful information, resources and services that support and enrich the lives of military families and single service members.

MAC provides a number of FSCs with the staff to perform a cadre of services. MAC's Director and Vice President, Lisa I. Ashley, MSW, ACSW, of the Individual and Family Social Services Division, takes great care in providing every site with the most highly qualified staff member possible. Not only are applicants put through a rigorous interview process and reference check, but a thorough background check is also conducted on every staff member who performs duties at a FSC. Lisa uses her skills as a certified mediator to solve issues and her experience as a former Army Captain provides a unique insight to the issues facing military members and their families. Her consistent communication with the FSCs supported with MAC staff allows for the exploration of new programs, the development of new marketing tools, as well as providing critical support to staff who are performing compelling assistance to families.

Numerous staff have been highlighted in the military newspapers. The most recent is our Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinator, Ms. Monique O'Neil at Quantico MCB, an EFM herself. Read recent article about Ms. Monique O'Neil in Good Sense Magazine.

Staff positions include: Clinical Counselor(s); Family Advocacy Counselor(s); Family Advocacy Case Manager(s); Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Coordinator(s); Information and Referral Specialist(s) (I&R); Education and Prevention Specialist(s); Victim Advocate(s); Volunteer Program Coordinator(s); Volunteer Program Assistant(s); Personal Financial Management Advisor(s); Transition Assistance Management Program (TAMP) Counselor(s); Relocation Assistance Program (RAP) Counselor(s); New Parent Support Program Coordinator(s); Employee Assistance Program Assistant(s); Drug & Alcohol Risk Reduction Program Assistant(s), and Family Advocacy Program Assistant(s).
