Strategic and Program Planning, Community Relations, and Community Needs Assessment
MAC works with numerous Federal departments and agencies as well as local and community-based organizations, helping them to examine their work environment and developing plans to meet the challenges of competing in that environment.
Brief examples:
- Offered consulting services to the program planning and financial management staffs of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Transportation as they developed their annual budgets and operating plans
- Assisted the boards of Community Health Centers in the development and implementation of their strategic and annual operating plans
- Helped Federal and State Governments to solve community problems, such as the loss of needed health care services
Technical Assistance and Training and Program Evaluation
MAC offers technical assistance (TA) and training and program evaluation services to literally hundreds of public and private concerns.
Brief examples of TA and evaluation services:
- Conducted more than 600 site visits and training sessions with prospective grantees to ascertain their ability to manage Federal grants; review teams evaluated their compliance to the programmatic and fiscal requirements of their grants
- Organized town meetings consisting of as many as 500 Federal, local, and private providers of health care services to disseminate and exchange information related to drug abuse and addiction research
- Helped individual providers of community services determine their costs for providing specific services; helped these providers use this information in rate setting and prepayment contract negotiations
